The following message was sent to participants in the 2020 City of Lincoln 10K and Lincoln Fun Run on 14th August 2020.
Dear Runner,
Firstly, we want to wish you, your friends and family all the best. We hope you are keeping safe and well during these challenging times.
Earlier this year we wrote to you to advise that due to COVID-19 the City of Lincoln 10K and Lincoln Run Fun would be postponed until 1st November 2020.
At this stage, we asked you to confirm whether you wish to run in 2020 or defer your entry to June 2021.
When the decision was taken to postpone the event we had great hopes of seeing you all on the start line and for us to be able to come together to celebrate and fundraise for so many worthy causes.
Since the announcement to postpone we, along with the City of Lincoln Council have been monitoring the situation on a daily basis and seeking guidance from the UK Government as to the next steps with regards to the potential for events to take place later this year.
Given the current guidance, we feel it very unlikely that these events will be able to go ahead this year due to the social distancing that would need to be implemented and the limitations of the current route, assembly area and Cathedral finish line.
Therefore, we are unfortunately writing to advise you that due to COVID-19, the City of Lincoln 10K and Lincoln Fun Run has been postponed to Sunday 27th June 2021.
Whilst we appreciate this news won’t come as a complete surprise, like you, we are disappointed that our return to Lincoln will have to wait another year but the safety of you the entrants has to come first.
All entries will be transferred to the new date in 2021 so please mark Sunday 27th June in your diary.
Can we take this opportunity to ask you to also consider supporting one of the events official partner charities when you take to the start line next year. Over the years these events have raised a significant sum of money for charity and due to the postponements of these events we know many charities will be struggling to continue to deliver vital services due to lack of funds. Your support now, can really make a difference.
We really hope we will see you all on the start line next year, but in the meantime, we would ask you to stay safe, stay well and keep active.
Unfortunately, we are not in a position to be able to offer refunds. This is as per our standard terms and conditions.
On behalf of the Run For All Team, and the City of Lincoln Council can we thank you for your continued support and patience.
