The University of Lincoln showed their rivals a clean pair of heels when they raced to victory in the City of Lincoln 10K University of Lincoln Corporate Challenge.
The Corporate Challenge, which took place alongside last weekend’s City of Lincoln 10K, saw a number of teams of all sizes battle it out to be crowned Corporate Challenge Champions. Teams included the University of Lincoln, Ringrose Runners, Wilkin Chapman LLP, Wright Vigar Ltd and FR Scott Ltd.
Rather than competing as individuals, teams worked collectively to cross the line in the quickest combined time.
The times of the first three team members home are used to calculate the results. The University of Lincoln won in an impressive time of 34.29 ahead of Ringrose Runners who took second place in 42:09, and Wilkin Champan came in at third-placed with a time of 44:13.
Among the Corporate Challenge teams, the fastest male to cross the finish line was Zak Houghton from the University of Lincoln in a time of 32:08. The fastest female to cross the line was Heather Wells from Ringrose Law, in a time of 43:29.
The University of Lincoln’s support of the Challenge forms a wider part of their commitment to prioritising health and wellbeing to its community. Over 200 staff and students participated in the Corporate Challenge.
Jo Hinman at the University of Lincoln said “What a fantastic race we had it was great to see our students and staff members display such team spirit and to top it off we claimed 1st place”
Alice Liley, Sales Executive at Run For All said, “It was wonderful to see so many companies from across the city join us for this year’s Corporate Challenge. Well done to everyone who took part and a huge congratulations to the University of Lincoln on their wonderful achievements.”
The City of Lincoln 10k, popular not least for its fast and flat course, takes in many of the city’s most iconic landmarks including the Roman Walls and Museum of Lincolnshire Life. Lincoln’s awe-inspiring City Cathedral provides a spectacular backdrop for the finish line.
The events saw participants raising substantial sums for a host of good causes and a diverse range of partner charities, including Sophie’s Journey, Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, RSPCA, YMCA Lincoln, Lincoln City Foundation and Linkage.
