Run For All are excited to announce the return of the Asda Foundation Leicester 10K with a new route for 2020. Taking place on Sunday 9th August the Leicester 10K will make it’s first come back since 2018.
Previously held at the beautiful Abbey Park, the course saw runners explore the city centre with sights such as the Grand Union Canal, the King Richard lll Visitor Centre and the cathedral.
With a brand new decade comes a brand new route for the Leicester 10K. Starting at Jubilee Square, runners will head into the city centre and onto Granby Street before heading out to Victoria Park The course will weave through the beautiful greenery of the park and through the University of Leicester before looping back and making its way back to Jubilee Square.
Leicester deputy city mayor for culture, leisure and sport, Cllr Piara Singh Clair, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming the 10K back to the city’s streets and giving runners something to mark on their calendars and look forward to for 2020. It’s always brilliant to see how much this event is supported by participants’ families and loved ones, who contribute to the fantastic atmosphere of the event.”
Tristan Batley-Kyle, Head of Events at Run For All said: “We’re excited to be back in Leicester for this great 10K. The support from the community is always fantastic and we hope the new route brings many more to the city streets to celebrate a day of amazing achievements and raise money for amazing causes.
Our new route has been designed with the support of local runners wishing to showcase the city and its stunning parks. (is it just Victoria Park this time though?) We hope that people will be able to join us again this year for what is set to be a great run for all abilities.”
Also showing their support of the return of the 10K is Leicester Tigers Foundation who will again be an official partner charity for the event.
Alec Brown, Fundraising and administration manager, Leicester Tigers Foundation said: “It’s fantastic to have event back in the city. The 10K was a great way for our fans to support the Tigers Foundation and we know the event has been missed this past year. We are really looking forward to the event and working with the team at Run For All to support our fundraisers.
