The MND Association is very proud to be working alongside Run for All for the third year as a Charity Partner of the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon.
As our patron, Rob Burrow CBE, his family and his friend and former teammate Kevin Sinfield CBE, worked tirelessly to raise awareness of motor neurone disease (MND), as well as millions of pounds to support the Association’s work and further research into this devastating disease.
Following Rob’s death from MND in June 2024, many of our fundraisers have been inspired to continue his legacy of hope by fundraising for the Association in his memory, allowing us to reach many more people affected by MND across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
In Leeds and Yorkshire, the money raised is being put hard to work, helping to support people living with MND and their families through effective multi-disciplinary care provided in partnership with the NHS at the Leeds MND Care Centre. Elsewhere, our network of five volunteer-run branches and groups in Yorkshire provide an important sense of community for people affected by the disease, and a safe space where local information and support can be accessed easily. Our volunteer Association visitors also provide ongoing one-to-one support in towns, cities and rural communities whether that’s through a personal visit, a text, email or phone call.
We are so grateful to everyone who has chosen to support the MND Association by taking part in the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon. Every step you take and every penny you raise will help us to achieve our community’s vision of a world free from MND.
