Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All are delighted to confirm that the UK’s leading global pharmaceutical development and manufacturing company Recipharm, has built on its longstanding support of the GEAR 10K, Mini GEAR and Corporate Challenge by retaining title sponsorship.
Recipharm’s support forms a vital part of the company’s wider aims to support the local community, increase participation in sports, as well as promoting good health and wellbeing.
With a 10K or 1.9Km distance to choose from, participants of all abilities and ages are encouraged to sign up. From elites, first-timers to charity runners, the Recipharm GEAR 10K is the perfect step up for participants looking to up their mileage, while the Mini GEAR create an ideal opportunity for runners to soak up the same event day atmosphere, but with a shorter route.
Returning to the town’s events calendar on Sunday 5th May, both events will start and finish in the heart of King’s Lynn, in Tuesday Market Place.
All the action will kick off with the 10K and Corporate Challenge at 9.30am.
The 10K route explores the historic market town of Kings Lynn including the River Ouse pathway and the Walks. Participants will pass certain local landmarks including Custom House, Red Mount and Greyfriars Tower. Runners are encouraged to fundraise for their own charity of choice or one of the event’s partner charities; the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, the Purfleet Trust, Break, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Linnets in the Community and the 8:56 Foundation.
Laura Harrod at the 8:56 Foundation added “8:56 Foundation aims to raise awareness, increase the profile of support and reduce the stigma associated with mental health. By using sport as an aid, we want to encourage men to talk and reduce the risk of loneliness and isolation.
“Our Team 856 running group is at the heart of our Foundation and our members share the strength, support and belonging that being part of a group can bring. GEAR is one of our main fundraising campaigns, in 2021 we had 35 runners, 2022 66 runners and now in our 3rd year with GEAR we have over 100 runners representing the foundation in helping us not only to raise funds but awareness for men's mental health. Thank you Run for All for welcoming us back to the Recipharm GEAR 10K it's a great community event in King's Lynn we are proud to support and be part of.”
The Recipharm Mini GEAR features a 1.9km course and participants are invited to wheel, walk, jog and run. Organisers are encouraging youngsters of all abilities and ages to join them on the day.
Open to children and juniors aged 6+, each finisher will receive a Recipharm Mini GEAR medal, and all finishers under 18 will receive a Recipharm Mini GEAR finisher t-shirt.
Children and juniors are encouraged to fundraise for the event’s main partner charity; Theresa’s Tiny Treasures.
Theresa’s Tiny Treasures was started in 2015 by ex-midwife Theresa Ann McGrath. The charity is offered to families losing a longed-for baby at any stage of pregnancy and after birth. The charity also offers a service to families who lose a child in infancy or early childhood wherever possible.
As part their sponsorship, Recipharm is once again looking to increase participation by offering 150 free entries for local schools, as well as a cash prize pot of £2500 for the top three schools who enter the highest proportion of entrants from their school’s intake to share.
Representatives from Ward Gethin Archer will be taking part in the Recipharm GEAR 10K Corporate Challenge again in 2024.
The Corporate Challenge will sit alongside the main event of the day, the Recipharm GEAR 10K. Aiming to be more inclusive of different teams from all backgrounds, event organisers are inviting teams within local businesses, sport teams, clubs, family or friends to take part. Open to teams of at least five members (with no upper limit on participant numbers), teams will battle it out to be crowned Corporate Challenge Champions.
Rather than competing as individuals, participants will work collectively to cross the line in the quickest combined time. In addition to being team focused, the Corporate Challenge boasts a more premium package with the inclusion of a few extra perks and benefits, including race day kit, race day hospitality, digital team photos, team t-shirts and prizes for the winners. The Corporate Challenge offers a great opportunity for teams of all combinations and backgrounds to engage in an element of friendly race day rivalry or strengthen team work, all while raising money for many deserving charities.
