Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All is delighted to announce that Rob Burrow MBE and family will be taking part in this year’s Leeds Arena Group Mini and Junior run on Sunday 18th June.
The event, which fittingly takes place on Father’s Day and the same day as the hugely popular Leeds 10K, will see Rob joined by wife Lindsey and children Macy, Maya and Jackson.
Following on from the phenomenal success of the inaugural Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon, in partnership with Clarion, Rob is set to take part in the event as part of his deserved lap of honour.
The marathon has now exceeded a phenomenal £4million in charitable donations for a number of truly great causes, including the event’s main partner charities Motor Neurone Disease Association and the Leeds Hospitals Charity MND Centre Appeal.
On announcing his involvement in next month’s Leeds Mini and Junior events, Rob said: “I’m really looking forward to my kids pushing me round the Fun Run. I think it might be a bumpy ride!”
Macy Burrow added: “We are really excited to be taking part in the Fun Run with our Dad.”
Lindsey Burrow also added: "It will be great to get the whole Burrow family involved in this event. We are really looking forward to it and encourage all families to get involved."
The Arena Group Leeds Mini and Junior runs are open to anyone aged 3 years plus, offering a perfect opportunity for families and friends to stay active and healthy together.
The Mini 1.5Km course is open to children aged between 3 – 8 and the Junior 2.35Km course caters for children aged between 9 – 15, both welcoming all abilities to wheel, walk, jog and run; organisers will work to make the event accessible to all abilities.
The Arena Group Leeds Mini and Junior events will start and finish at the Parkinson Steps of the University of Leeds. The Junior event kicking off at 9.45am and the Mini at 9.55am.
Children are encouraged to fundraise for the event’s main partner charity, Martin House.
Martin House is a charity that provides hospice care for children and young people across West, North and East Yorkshire. The hospice provides family-led care to children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses, either at the hospice or in families own homes.
A highlight in the city’s events calendar, the day will see the return of one of the region’s biggest and best-loved charity road runs, the Leeds 10K. A hugely popular, inclusive and supported race for participants of all abilities, thousands of fun-runners, fundraisers and club runners are expected to take on the 10K challenge.
Started by Jane Tomlinson in 2007, the Leeds 10K was her lasting legacy event. Having raised £1.8 million for charity while she was battling terminal cancer, in 2006 Jane knew her time left to fundraise was limited. As a result, Jane decided to set up the Leeds 10K to continue the fundraising vehicle for charities that she had started.
Participants have been encouraged to fundraise for their own charity of choice or one of the event’s partner charities; The Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Leeds Hospitals Charity, Leeds Mind, Macmillan Cancer Support, St George’s Crypt and Candlelighters.
