Delivered in partnership with Coventry City Council, entries are now open for participants to compete in the Coventry 10K on Sunday 27th April, which will see the half marathon start at 09:00am, followed by the inaugural 10K at 09:30am as the two form the Coventry Running Festival.
Participants of both events will start on Gosford Street before heading through the city and surrounding areas whilst Coventry’s awe-inspiring ruins and new Cathedral act as backdrop to the finish.
The route is designed not only to encourage participants to take on a brand-new running challenge, but also for spectators to cheer on runners at multiple points along the way.
Accessible for all, event organisers encourage all abilities to jog, walk or run, promoting inclusivity regardless of physical ability. Whether entrants are looking to fundraise for a charity of their choice, chase a personal best or keen to take on a brand-new challenge, the Coventry 10K boasts a great opportunity for those looking to soak up the race day atmosphere while tackling a shorter distance to the half marathon.
Not just a route with something for everyone to appreciate, runners will be rewarded with a goody bag, including post-run treats and a bespoke medal for them to remember the day.
Providing a fundraising vehicle for charities is the primary objective of every Run For All event, ensuring that the money being raised stays local and supports the causes that needs them most.
With community and charity at its core, participants are encouraged to take part and raise money for their own personal reasons, or to support one of the event’s partner charities including Myton Hospice.
Any further charities interested in becoming an Official Charity Partner – whether involved with them previously or not – are encouraged to contact Run For All as soon as possible.
Tristan Batley-Kyle, Operations Director at Run For All commented, “We wanted to provide the opportunity to open up the day to as many people as we can, so the addition of the 10K is a great way for participants of all abilities to get involved.
“Everyone finishes outside Coventry Cathedral which is a really great place to finish. It gives the participants a nice feel because you get lots of supporters lining the finish line and we also have the Event Village, where there will be a great atmosphere and a chance for runners to chat with family, friends and other.”
Cllr Abdul Salam Khan, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Events at Coventry City Council, added: “We’re delighted to be welcoming the 10K course and opening up the offer to even more people this year. It will be a great addition to the half marathon event and will encourage more people to get moving and enjoy yet another fantastic event in the city.
“Both routes will showcase some of Coventry’s finest spots, giving participants a taste of how brilliant the city is. I really look forward to seeing participants at the start line and we’ll be cheering everyone on all the way.”
As part of the partnership with Coventry City Council, all Coventry residents will have access to an exclusive Go CV member discount of £5 off entry for both the 10K or Half Marathon. The Half Marathon discount is already live, while Go CV members can claim their discount on the newly launched 10K from Monday 7th October, 2024.
