Organised in conjunction with Middlesbrough Council and Everyone Active, the brand new Boro Duo Season Ticket will allow participants to secure discounted entries into two of the region’s biggest and best-loved charity road runs, the Ali Brownlee 5K and Middlesbrough 10K.
Returning to Teesside’s sporting calendar on Sunday 16th June (5K) and Sunday 1st September (10K), the brand new Boro Duo Season Ticket allows participants to run for less and enjoy the very best of Middlesbrough with two incredible events in one package.
Open to participants of all ages and abilities, the Boro Duo Season Ticket boasts a great opportunity for those looking to prepare for a new running challenge or those looking to kickstart a love for running in 2024.
With community and charity at its core, participants are encouraged to take part and raise money for their own personal reasons, or to support one of the event’s partner charities; the Teesside Family Foundation, Leo’s, Home Start Teesside and the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.
Any further charities interested in becoming an Official Charity Partner – whether involved previously or not – are encouraged to contact Run For All as soon as possible.
Honouring the memory of popular broadcaster, who for over 30 years commentated on his beloved Middlesbrough FC; the Ali Brownlee 5K will start at 10.15am and will be returning to it’s much-loved route of previous years, starting and finishing at the iconic Riverside Stadium.
The Middlesbrough 10K, kicking off at 9.00am will start and finish on Centre Square and will take runners via many of the town’s landmarks including Albert Park, the Dorman Museum, Teesside University, Riverside Stadium and the Transporter Bridge.
Offering something for all the family to get involved in, event organisers are also delighted to announce the return of the Ali Brownlee 2K Fun Run and Middlesbrough 3K Fun Run for 2024. All abilities are invited to wheel, walk, jog and run, and organisers will work to make the events accessible to all abilities.
Taking place on the same day as the 5K, the Ali Brownlee 2K is open to children aged 3 plus. Those aged between 3 – 8 need to be accompanied by an adult.
Much like the 2K, the Middlesbrough 3K will be taking place on the same day as the 10K, and the same age restrictions and requirements will apply to this event.
Middlesbrough Mayor Chris Cooke said: “Running helps people to stay fit and healthy, make new friends and improve their mental health.
“The season ticket is a great idea and hopefully it encourages lots of potential Middlesbrough runners to get involved and take part in our town’s fantastic running events.”
Paul Ayre, Everyone Active’s Area Contract Manager, said: “We are really looking forward to playing our part in the Ali Brownlee 5K and Middlesbrough 10K next year.”
“It’s great to be involved in a fantastic community event for all ages and abilities, which will benefit local and national charities, and we would encourage everyone to take advantage of the Boro Duo offer.”
Tristan Batley-Kyle, Director of Operations at Run For All said: “We are delighted to be opening entries for our very brand new season ticket in Middlesbrough for 2024.
“The Boro Duo is a great way for runners to get together and join us for what is to be a brand new, bigger and incredible year of running in Teesside.
“Seeing the communities and friendships that have formed at our Middlesbrough events throughout the years is something we pride ourselves on and the Boro Duo means runners can come back together while running for less.
“Along with the return of the 2K and 3K, these events are a great way to get all of the family involved while promoting an active lifestyle to youngsters.
“All of our fun run events remain to be entirely inclusive, and we encourage youngsters of all ages and abilities to join us on the day.”
Building on its previous organisation of the event, Run For All will continue to increase community and charity engagement, whilst also working to remove barriers to participation for the events, so that more people in the region can enjoy the benefits of staying active.
Run For All will also work closely with local businesses across the region and is encouraging anyone interested in partnering with the event to get in touch.
