Set to enter the city in 2025, Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All is excited to announce the launch of the Lincoln Half Marathon.
Delivered in partnership with City of Lincoln Council, the Lincoln Half Marathon will take place on Sunday 5th October 2025, with entries open now.
Following the success of the City of Lincoln 10K, which returns to the city on 6th April 2025, the Lincoln Half Marathon will provide runners who are looking to upgrade their challenge from a 10K, but setting themselves a more achievable aim compared to the full marathon distance of 26.2-miles, with the perfect solution; a 13.1-mile course.
Starting and finishing at Lincolnshire Showground, entrants will embark on a route through the centre and surrounding areas as the city’s most notable landmarks, Lincoln Castle and Cathedral provide spectacular backdrops midway through the race.
Designed to be accessible for all, event organisers encourage participants of all abilities to jog, walk or run, promoting inclusivity regardless of physical ability. Whether those getting involved are looking to fundraise for a charity of choice, chase a personal best time or simply wanting to run for fun, the Lincoln Half Marathon boasts a great opportunity for all to get involved.
Not just a route with something for everyone to appreciate, runners will then be rewarded with a goody bag of post-run treats and a hard-earned bespoke medal for them to remember the day as they return to the showground and cross that all-important finish line.
Intended not just for participants taking on the brand-new 13.1-mile challenge, but for spectators to provide a supportive atmosphere along the route too.
Providing a fundraising vehicle for charities is the primary objective of every Run For All event, ensuring that the money being raised stays local and supports the causes that needs them most.
With community and charity at its core, participants are encouraged to take part and raise money for their own personal reasons, or to support one of the event’s partner charities; Lincoln City Foundation and the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.
Any further charities interested in becoming an Official Charity Partner – whether involved with the previously or not – are encouraged to contact Run For All as soon as possible.
Tristan Batley-Kyle, Operations Director at Run For All commented, “We’re delighted to be able to launch a Half Marathon in Lincoln. With the route starting and finishing within the impressive parkland of the Lincolnshire Showground and incorporating parts of the city, we’re sure it’s going to be popular.
“Finishing at the showground also gives participants an added bonus of experiencing an electric atmosphere as they make their way down that final stretch. Having the Event Village located here too, provides a great space for runners to chat with family, friends and each other pre and post-race.”
Cllr Joshua Wells, Portfolio Holder for Inclusive Economic Growth at City of Lincoln Council, said: "We are thrilled to welcome the new half marathon to Lincoln next year. It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase our beautiful city to runners and visitors alike. Local businesses will be able to get involved and it will shine a spotlight on everything Lincoln has to offer.
"Promoting fitness and well-being is a key priority for City of Lincoln Council, and this event highlights the importance of staying active while fostering a sense of community. We look forward to seeing everyone come together for this exciting event."
Run For All will also work closely with local businesses across the region and is encouraging anyone interested in partnering with the event to get in touch.
