The following message was sent to participants in the 2020 Sheffield Half Marathon, Sheffield 10K and Sheffield Fun Run on 28th July 2020.
Dear Runner,
Firstly we want to wish you, your friends and family all the best. We hope you are keeping safe and well during these challenging times.
We would also like to thank you for your continued support and patience over the past few months. As you know, the Sheffield Half Marathon was postponed earlier this year and was moved to the same day as the Sheffield 10K and Sheffield Fun Run this September.
At the time of the postponement, we had great hope that we would be able to host these events this year. Like many of you, we at Run For All, along with Sheffield City Council have been monitoring the situation on a daily basis and seeking guidance from the UK Government as to the next steps with regards the potential for events to take place later this year.
Unfortunately, we are writing to advise you that due to COVID-19 and social distancing guidelines, the Sheffield Half Marathon has been postponed to 28th March 2021 and the Sheffield 10K and Sheffield Fun Run to 26th September 2021.
Whilst we appreciate this news won’t come as a complete surprise, like you, we are disappointed that our return to Sheffield will have to wait another year, but the safety of you the entrants has to come first.
All entries will be transferred to the new date in 2021 so please mark Sunday 28th March and 26th September in your diary accordingly.
Can we take this opportunity to ask you to also consider supporting one of the events official partner charities when you take to the start line next year. Over the years these events have raised in excess of a million pounds for charity and due to the postponements of these events, we know many charities will be struggling to continue to deliver vital services due to lack of funds. Your support of them now can really make a difference.
We really hope we will see you all on the start line next year, but in the meantime, we would ask you to stay safe, stay well and keep active.
Unfortunately, we are not in a position to be able to offer refunds. This is as per our standard terms and conditions.
On behalf of the Run For All Team and Sheffield City Council can we thank you for your continued support and patience.
