Six is the magic number for the Yorkshire Marathon

With marathon season on the horizon, York Sport have joined forces with Run For All, the organisers of the Yorkshire Marathon, to sponsor this year's Yorkshire Marathon relay.

Together the organisations are encouraging teams of 6 to take on the 26.2 miles together on Sunday 17^th  October for the York Sport Yorkshire Marathon Relay.

Teams will get the chance to experience the buzz of marathon day whilst running between three to six miles collectively completing the marathon distance and receiving that all-important finishers medal.

Open to teams from all background, the marathon relay is a fantastic way of networking, boosting morale, promoting teamwork or just rewarding yourselves with a great day out.

Keith Morris, Head of Sport at the University of York said: “Today York Sport and the University of York are as proud to work in partnership with Run for All as we were when we worked together to establish the very first Yorkshire marathon.

“The way in which the marathon, 10 mile and Relay engage and benefit individuals, communities and charities is inspirational. After the period we have all been through we encourage everyone to get active and to be part of marathon weekend which will provide a much needed and welcome return to activity and a motivation for everyone that look forward to welcoming  back to York.”

With teams already signed up from Siemens, Talk Logistics ltd, John Atkinson’s Interiors, Beth’s beavers Arthrex, NHS shared Business Services, Snappy, Banister’s farm, Netcells, Electronics Direct and York Hospital Radio the competition is gearing up for race day.

We can’t wait to see the teams come together on race day to see who is crowned fastest team.”

Each team member will receive a branded York Sport Yorkshire Marathon relay t-shirt with their chosen logo on the reverse, event day hospitality and transport to each leg of the relay on course.
