We are pleased to today announce a multi-year partnership with Thirteen Housing Group.
Thirteen are set to be the title sponsor for a series of running events in Middlesbrough over a range of distances from 2k to 10k.
Staged in partnership with Everyone Active and Middlesbrough Council, we will be working together with Thirteen to inspire, motivate and empower participants of all ages and abilities to sign up to their event of choice.
Thirteen is a housing association that provide more than 73,000 people in the North East, Yorkshire and Humber region with homes, support and opportunities to grow.
The organisation has an excellent track record of building new homes for rent and shared ownership. They develop hundreds of high-quality and modern homes that meet the needs of local people and as a Homes England Strategic Partner, have an ambitious development programme over the next five years.
Along with renting and building homes, Thirteen also support their customers and communities by investing in services to help people to live to their full potential. This includes work to prevent homelessness, providing support to get people back to work or training, supporting those affected by domestic abuse and anti-social behaviour, and refugee resettlement.
Matt Forrest, chief executive at Thirteen said “The partnership with Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our commitment to the communities in which we operate.
“We’re passionate about not only providing good quality homes, but also creating opportunities for our customers. This partnership gives us the chance to do just that with the offer of 20 free places for our customers.
“We’re also in the process of putting together a team of colleagues to take part to raise vital funds for our company charity and event partner, the Great North Air Ambulance Service.”
Siobhan Curtis, Marketing and Communications Director at Run For All said “We are delighted that Thirteen have pledged their support for our Middlesbrough events and look forward to working with the team to continue to inspire and motivate potential entrants across the region to take part.
“All four events, year after year continue to benefit and inspire thousands of participants and raise money for many charities across the region.”
Welcoming the partnership announcement, Middlesbrough Mayor Chris Cooke said: “The Middlesbrough 10k and Ali Brownlee 5k are two of the region’s flagship events and attract runners of all ages and abilities from far and wide.
“Their popularity and continuing growth is only possible with the support of dedicated partners, so I’m delighted that Thirteen have made this long-term commitment.
“There really is something for everybody, from walkers and charity fund-raisers to elite level athletes, and this partnership will take our place on the running calendar to a whole new level.”
The partnership will kick off with this year’s Middlesbrough 10k on Sunday 1st September, with the Middlesbrough 3k to follow on the same day.
With charity at its core, the Middlesbrough 10k will see participants raising substantial sums for a host of good causes and a diverse of partner charities, including the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Leo’s, Home Start Teesside and the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
The 10k will start and finish in the heart of the town centre, in Centre Square and the route will explore some of the town’s most well-known landmarks including Albert Park, the Dorman Museum, Teesside University, the Transporter Bridge and Riverside Stadium. Runners will then head back to Centre Square for the all-important finish line.
The Middlesbrough 3K, on the same morning, caters for those aged 3 plus, with participants invited to wheel, walk, jog and run as organisers ensure the event is made accessible for all abilities.
Dates for next year’s Ali Brownlee 5k and 2k, both set to take place on the same day are set to be confirmed. However, organisers are pleased to confirm that both events will again start and finish at the home of Middlesbrough Football Club, Riverside Stadium.
