Yorkshire Marathon Festival - Latest News

The following message was sent to participants in the 2020 Yorkshire Marathon & Yorkshire 10 Mile on 28th July 2020

Dear Entrants,

Firstly, we want to wish you, your friends and family all the best and thank you for your continued support and patience.

Over the past few months we have had to postpone a number of our events due to COVID-19 and like many companies, our team have all been furloughed, yet we have tried to remain positive that some events may be able to take place this year.

So far this year we have reviewed each event on its own merit and made a decision on whether it can be held at the latest, two months prior to event day as we have awaited updates from the governing bodies as to whether events will be able to take place this year.

We were therefore, as we are sure you were too, pleased to see last week, that UK Athletics announced guidelines for the return of mass participation running events in 2020. 

Like many other event companies, we are now reviewing these guidelines to look at whether the Yorkshire Marathon and 10 Mile can be safely hosted later this year. As we are sure you can appreciate, there are a number of things that need to be reviewed in conjunction with these guidelines.

Therefore, we wanted to advise all entrants, that as we have done with all of our events to date, we will make a final decision on whether the Yorkshire Marathon and Yorkshire 10 Mile can go ahead in 2020 no later than the 18th August.

We appreciate this is a difficult time and ask if you can continue to be patient with us whilst we look at the relevant plans.

The support you have shown the events many benefiting charities over the years has been phenomenal and we know that this event can make such a huge difference to them too and therefore a decision to postpone will not be taken lightly.

Thank you again for your continued support. We will be in touch again with entrants very soon once a final decision has been made and will advise of your options.

We would ask that you please don’t contact us regarding your individual entry until a further update has been shared between now and the 18th August as we will be unable to make alterations to any entries at this time.
