Meet Christian, one of our inspirational runners taking on the Nottingham 10K on Sunday 10th March.
Fundraising for a cause very close to his heart, Chris is hoping to raise as much as he can for Zora who is currently receiving treatment for Leukemia in the US.
"Fundraising for a cause very close to his heart, Chris is hoping to raise as much as he can for Zora who is currently receiving treatment for Leukemia.
"I’m running the Notts 10K for a very special girl called Zora. She has relapsed Leukemia and the parents need some help with the travelling costs for her treatment.
"I stayed with this family while I was in College in the States and they treated me like family.
"Zora was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphocystic Leukemia in April 2022 at 8 months old. After an extensive inpatient treatment of almost a year, she was discharged home in January 2023 in remission and on maintenance chemo.
"Unfortunately, after an illness that continued to worsen, they found out on December 16 that the leukemia has returned in her spine/CNS.
"The treatments required to beat this relapse will be in weekly in Indy as well as a potential trip to Philadelphia or another US hospital that offers the treatments she will need.
"We are unsure at this time just how far they will travel, but we know at the very minimum, they will be spending 2-3 consecutive days every week in Indy for the unforeseeable future. Just these trips alone will require funds for fuel, overnight lodging, meals, etc.
