On Sunday 5th September Anna Kowalska will be taking part in the Leeds 10K in support of her niece Amelia to not only raise awareness of DKMS but more importantly to help find a lifesaving donor.
When I found out that my friend’s niece got sick I knew I need to do something.
Amelia is only 12 years old and has acute leukaemia. She needs a stem cell transplant from a matching donor to get better. Unfortunately, there’s no one compatible with her at the moment. That’s when DKMS comes in to help with the search for her genetic twin.
Running for charities is what I do so the decision to join Team DKMS and take part in Leeds 10k run was easy and natural for me.
I’ve also already registered as a potential donor and I want to encourage others to do the same. It’s only few minutes for us but those few minutes can save someone’s life. Someone like Amelia and many others.
Amelia needs our help now so that she can recover and enjoy her life.
I will do the running and you can support me by stopping at the DKMS point and register on the day or if you can’t be there then, you can always register online via the link below:

The DKMS team will be on site at this year Leeds 10K within the event village and will be encouraging people to register with them on the day in the hope of finding Amelia a donor. To register either please use the link above or visit the team in the event village on race day on Kirkstall Road.
