After running over 50 miles in May and raising £1350 in memory of his late uncle Roderick, James is set to run the Bury 10K in just 4 week's time.
Speaking about the upcoming event, James commented the below.
What made you decide to take part in the Bury 10K this year?
My uncle Roderick Graham passed away earlier this year from Blood Cancer. He was a very keen runner and had competed in races all around the world as well as running the local running club, Casked Runners of Rawtenstall.
I wanted to raise money for those who have been affected by Blood Cancer and to support their ongoing research.
What does it mean to you?
I’m taking part in the Bury 10K in memory of my uncle – running was his life.
How long have you been running for and have you taken part in the event before?
Back in May, I participated in running fifty miles throughout the month and actually finished on eighty. Probably the most I’ve ever ran as an adult!
We managed to raise over £1350 for Blood Cancer, which we were so pleased with.
How has your training regime been so far?
At times, it can be difficult. But as time goes on, it does get easier and more enjoyable. I found upgrading my footwear helped.
Do you have any top training tips?
Run when you are able, whether it’s short or long distances. Get the right footwear!
Do you have a time you’re aiming for? What’s your goal?
I don’t really have a time in mind, I just want to finish it.
With Bury Bid as title sponsor, the Bury 10K is returning on 15th September 2024, entries are still open. Also taking place on the same day – Bury Mini and Junior Run enables the younger ones to get involved too!
