John Noble is running the Middlesbrough 10K after being told he would never walk or talk again.
During a terrible road traffic collision in 2015, John was thrown through the windscreen of the car and suffered catastrophic, life-changing injuries, and his friend who was driving at the time sadly died after the collision. The accident resulted in John spending 2 years in hospital to treat his injures, which included brain damage and multiple fractures.
John and his family were told by experts that he would never be able to walk or talk again, but, after 9 years, John has defied expectations, and can now walk with a frame and hold conversations.
Now 29, John is more confident than ever, and has decided to do the Middlesbrough 10K to raise money for the A&E staff at James Cook Hospital. John was treated at James Cook Hospital for 9 months following his injuries, and wants to raise money for the staff to give back, as they gave him the treatment that allowed him defy the odds and be where he is today.
“John is really going to push himself and do this 10K.”
He will be doing the race along with five of his friends and his physio, Jenny, who will be pushing him around the course in his wheelchair.
“We would really appreciate any donations, as it serves such a personal meaning for John as, without the staff at James Cook, he may not have been here today to share his story.”
