Leeds Hospitals Charity launched the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease Appeal in September 2021, spearheaded by former Leeds Rhinos player, Rob Burrow.
Rob receives care from the current MND team at Seacroft Hospital and there are currently around 80 people like him being treated for MND in Leeds, double the number of people the service supported 10 years ago.
Thanks to the fundraising efforts of the people of Leeds, Yorkshire and beyond, the charity has raised over £2 million of it’s £5 million target to build a specialist centre for people living with MND and their families at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Runners who choose to fundraise for the Rob Burrow Centre for MND Appeal, can help make Rob’s dream a reality. “For carers of those with MND it is important to know that their loved ones are in the best possible place. Something every MND sufferer and their families deserve. Although the news won’t be any better, it will be easier to come to terms with in a purposely built care centre that meets the needs of every MND patient.
