Meet Louise, one of our inspirational runners taking on the York 10K on Sunday 4th August.
Louise will be celebrating ten years cancer free this year and to mark the occasion, will be taking part in three running events, two of which will be the York 10K and Yorkshire 10 Mile on Sunday 20th October.
Louise will be fundraising for three charities close to her heart, Cancer Research UK, York St John University Scholarships and Burton Green Primary School.
Ahead of event day, she tells us more about her reasons for running below.
“I am celebrating being Cancer free for 10 years!! whoop whoop!!!
“To mark the occasion, I am running three races this year, two 10k runs, first on the 30th of June and second on 4th of August, and then finishing off in style with a ten mile race (a whopping 16km) on the 20th of October.
“No matter how big or small, I would be extremely grateful for any support you might be able to offer to me and the good causes I am running for,
“I know I am one of the very fortunate people and I am incredibly grateful every day for the love and support I have had and continue to receive from family, friends, medical professionals and many in between. Through what was an extremely physically and mentally challenging time of my life, all of those beautiful people who helped me gave me more than they will ever know.
“From the beginning of my cancer journey to the present day, there have been many people, institutions and organisations that have supported me and my family and this year I would love to raise money for three very important organisations that I hold close to my heart, and those are:
“Cancer Research UK - For the continued fight against Cancer (click the donate button above)
“York St John University Scholarships – To give something positive back for the incredible support YSJ gave me during my recovery (click the donate button above)
“Burton Green Primary - Who do an amazing job of not only educating and caring for our two miracle boys, but also play a huge part in our community supporting many children and their families.
“In celebration of my ten-year anniversary, and in continued support of those who have helped me and others immensely, I hope to raise a minimum of £500 for each of the above organisations and would be sincerely appreciative (as would they) of any contribution you may be able to make.
“I’d also like to add the following, Please, never be fearful to ask, if unsure ask someone to check you, ask someone for help, ask for support, the help is there you just need to ask, if I had not been given the support to ask, it could have been a different story”
