“I signed up for this year’s Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon within three days of completing the 2023 event.”
Riding the high of last year’s event, MND Association fundraiser Mark quickly committed to conquering the streets of Leeds once again. This year, he’s going one better by attempting Mark’s MND Marathon Madness – a challenge which will see him complete two ultra marathons and two marathons in just 14 weeks, with the finish line being at Headingley Stadium.

MND Association fundraiser Mark is busy training for Mark’s MND Marathon Madness – a 14-week challenge which will see him complete twoI ultra marathons and two marathons. He’ll complete the challenge at the finish line of this year’s Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon.
“Last year's Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon was absolutely fantastic and one which I will remember for the rest of my life. The crowds were unbelievable in their support and encouragement of all the runners.
It was inspiring to run for a couple of miles alongside Rob, Kevin and the rest of the crew around the eight mile mark and then see them again around 24 miles when they ran past me on their way to the finish. I didn't actually see it but the footage I saw afterwards of Kevin Sinfield carrying Rob over the finish line was spine tingling. This has inspired me to run again this year (2024) - I signed up for this year’s Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon within three days of completing the 2023 event.
As the marathon approaches, I am starting to get excited about this year's event and I am really looking forward to it. I have already completed two of my four Mark's MND Marathon Madness events - Pendle Way in a Day and the Barcelona Marathon with the Calderdale Way Ultra and the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon still to come.
Training has at times been hard but then I remind myself that I am lucky to be able to run like I do, that the support all those who have donated have given me is unbelievable and I remind myself of Kevin carrying Rob across the line.
Happy Running and good luck to everyone who will be running in May.”
