Mary's fundrasier for the Anthony Nolan Foundation

Mary is one of our inspirational runners taking on Recipharm GEAR 10K.

In 2023, Mary Mitchell received devasting news: that her husband, Rick, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, a form of blood cancer. Since the diagnosis, Rick has received a stem cell transplant and is on the road to recovery. This would not have been possible without the support of Anthony Nolan who managed to find him a match. Mary is raising money for Anthony Nolan who has supported them since the diagnosis.

In 2024, Anthony Nolan celebrates their 50th Anniversary and they have helped 22,000 people receive lifesaving transplants. This is life changing to everyone involved and could not have been done without the support of everyone who donates.

Mary is determined to raise awareness of Anthony Nolan and to encourage more people to donate as they rely on donations to save lives of people with blood cancer and blood disorders.

Mary says "Our lives changed as soon as we received Rick's diagnosis. It is a long road ahead, but we are so grateful for the Anthony Nolan Foundation and I hope to raise as much as I can for the foundation. We cannot thank them enough for saving Rick's life."
