Running a marathon can be a daunting challenge. Whether it be your first marathon or tenth, there’s no escaping the mental and physical toll it takes on your body. 26.2 miles is a long way, but with the right training and preparation, your marathon experience should be an exciting and rewarding (if challenging) journey to the finish line.
This year’s Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon route is very scenic but also very hilly in parts. So, to keep all of our runners motivated, we’ve partnered with local running club, Rothwell Harriers.
Introducing our very own ‘Marathon Motivators’, a group of runners from Rothwell Harriers will be based along the long stretch between Otley and Bramhope.
A distance of around 3 miles, views of the lower Wharfedale Valley are sure to be pretty but the hill is sure to be a challenge.
Jason Westmoreland of Rothwell Harriers said,
"When your legs can't RUN anymore, RUN with your HEART.
When you see that big hill coming out of Otley don't look up look around that's where we the Marathon Motivates will be to help, motivate, and encourage you all the way to the top.
We are really looking forward to the day. See you there!"
Whether it be a friendly face to help many of our first-time marathon runners or an extra boost of support for those more experienced, we know our Marathon Motivators will provide the support you will need.
Rothwell Harriers have been long-standing supporters of both the Jane Tomlinson Appeal and Run For All since 2007, having been the first club to support the organization since the start.
Jane Tomlinson was a Rothwell Harrier herself so there is a strong association between the club and the charity set-up in her name.
Run For All are honoured to have the Leeds-based club, Rothwell Harriers on board for the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon. With this year marking the first time the city has hosted a marathon in twenty years, it is great to have the support of a club with such rich history and involvement within the local community.
