Mitchell, Jonny & Josh to run Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon for Pink Events

Mitchell Pattison, Jonny Lee, and Josh Browne all from Leeds will be taking on the marathon in aid of a charity close to their hearts, Pink Events.

A Leeds-based family-run Breast Cancer Charity, Pink Events raise much-needed funds for the Breast Care Unit at St. James’s Hospital and Cancer Research UK.

Mitchell’s Aunt, Kimberley, was first diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2004 and then again in 2019. Her extremely intense treatment carried on through 2020 however they are glad to say this has been successful and Kimberley is now doing well and in recovery.

In January 2015, Mitchell's Grandma, Maureen was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. 

In May 2021 the family received more devastating news, this time Mitchell’s Mum, Sarah, was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer for the second time after first being diagnosed in 2009.

Pink Events are hoping to buy a much-needed Faxitron® Core Specimen Radiography System for the Breast Unit at St James Hospital.

We caught up with Jonny ahead of their marathon challenge, 

"We've been involved with Pink Events for a number of years now, waiting at wine-tasting events, raising money climbing the three peaks as a group, and now the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon. 

Multiple breast cancer diagnoses of Mitchell’s Mum, Sarah, Auntie, Kim, and Grandma, Maureen over the years have always spurred us on to do all we can to fundraise.

The charity work towards helping raise much-needed funds for the Breast Care Unit at St. James’s Hospital and Cancer Research UK.

We’ve all said in the past we would love to run a marathon, and now just feels like the right time to do it; fulfilling our own goals while raising cash for a well-deserved charity, it’s a win-win!

We know times are tough, but we'd be immensely grateful for any donations at all, as like I said, it's for an amazing cause."
