Father and daughter duo, Paul and Katie will be taking on the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon together in support of the MND Association.
Read more of their story below.
"On 25th May this year, our beloved Father and Grandfather lost his battle with MND. Maurice was fit and active, had a mischievous sense of humour, selfless, generous, and greatly loved by his family and friends. In health a hugely inspirational man, something that was only magnified by his stoic attitude through this terrible disease.
In tribute to my father and also raise much-needed support for the MND Association my Daughter Katie and I decided to run the Rob Burrows Leeds Marathon, 3 weeks after we run the London Marathon.
Rob’s situation moved us all deeply as we know only too well the toll that MND takes on both the individual and the family. His tragic story has been an inspiration for us to push our efforts further.
As a result, my family have extended our fundraising activities throughout 2023 to include; the Great North Swim with my wife Tracy, The Big Welsh Swim at Lyn Padarn, the Snowdon Marathon, and the Wolf Run at Stanford Hall. The latter two where I will be joined by Daughters Sophie and Katie and partners Andy and Ant.
Also as staunch Leicester Tigers supporters, we are immensely proud and inspired by Kev Sinfield’s sterling work in support of his mate.
Good luck to all those taking part. Let’s hope all our efforts can help in finding a cure.
