Meet Purple Pete, originally from Southampton but now living in Leeds will be running the Nottingham 10K in aid of The Veterans Charity.
Running races across the UK, his purpleness makes him stand out.
Read more about what led him to be Purple Pete below.
"I am an army veteran who served for fourteen years in the Army Catering Corps.
Just before getting married in 2014, my mother-in-law was diagnosed with cancer and sadly passed away in St Gemma's Hospice here in Leeds, just weeks before I tied the knot with her daughter.
I began raising money for St Gemma's by running in a few road races wearing their purple race top. During the final mile of the Great North Run I heard people shouting out.. go on Pete! Unsure if they were referring to me or not, I decided I needed a name tag for better recognition. Hence Purple Pete came about.
Since then, I've changed my charity to help to raise money and awareness for The Veterans Charity. Over the years I have slowly transformed into a runner dressed head to toe in purple including a purple wig and tutu.
I love the accolades I receive from spectators and fellow runners during my races. It makes the whole experience so much more enjoyable!"
