Record-breaking history made at the Asda Foundation City of Lincoln 10K

History was made on the streets of Lincoln today as Lucian Alisson flied across the Asda Foundation City of Lincoln 10K to become the fastest finisher of any Jane Tomlinson Run For All 10K in their 12 years of organising running events.

His time of 29 mins 29sec was a full 54 seconds faster than the previous record set in 2017.

This race was not all about Lucian’s achievements alone. Thousands of runners of all abilities and ages hit the historic streets to accomplish their own special personal achievements.

Tens of thousands of pounds have been made for charity by the countless fundraisers taking on the challenge. All the profits of the event will also go to charity.

Large crowds helped generate a vibrant atmosphere as they cheered the runners around the course, which started in Riseholme Road and finished in the shadow of the city’s magnificent cathedral.

Joe Wilkinson was not far behind record-breaking Lucian taking second place with a time of 30mins 16secs, with Kris Lecher finishing third in 30mins 17secs.

Abbie Donnelly was the first woman home in 34mins 30secs followed by Cloe Hubbard who clocked 34mins 35secs for second spot and Becky Briggs who took third in 34mins 53secs.

Tristan Batley-Kyle, Run For All‘s head of events, said: “This run is the first of our 2019 season and what a way to start.

“We are extremely grateful to everyone – runners, supporters and especially the volunteers – who turned out to ensure the City of Lincoln 10K was another enjoyable and memorable day.”

Mandy Hepworth, Co-ordinator of the Asda Foundation, said: “We were treated to another wonderful City of Lincoln 10K today. The atmosphere was superb and congratulations to everyone who took part, particularly those raising money for some excellent good causes.”

Many entrants will be running for a good cause of their choice or supporting one of the event’s official partner charities – Jane Tomlinson Appeal, St Barnabas Hospice, Macmillan Cancer Support, Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance, Brainstrust, Lincoln and South Lincolnshire Age UK, Leap, Sophie’s Journey and the Mayor of Lincoln’s chosen charities – Lincoln Sea Cadets and Bracebridge Boxing Club.

The 10K is supported by the Asda Foundation, City of Lincoln Council, Arla Protein, Wilkin Chapman LLP Solicitors, BBC Radio Lincoln, Lincolnshire Echo, Motorpoint, KIME, Running Imp, JustGiving, AfterShockz and Runderwear,

Lincolnshire’s popular race weekend also featured the Arena Group Lincoln Mini & Junior Runs which took place on Saturday. Hundreds of excited children aged 3-15 pulled on their trainers for the runs at the Yarbrough Leisure Centre and left with a new medal and a smiling face.
