It was a Sunday morning in spring 2017 and Richard was out training for the upcoming Leeds Half Marathon. Suddenly, Richard’s heart suddenly stopped and he collapsed instantly.
Luckily, someone passing by stopped and gave Richard CPR immediately. That person saved Richard’s life. Richard was then rushed into hospital and given emergency treatment straight away.
Unfortunately, as a result of his heart stopping Richards brain was starved of oxygen and he suffered serious brain damage which has left him disabled. He has spent the last 6 years in hospital and has needed 24-hour care since his accident.
Richard has made huge improvements over the last few years and his family are looking to continue his rehabilitation at home. The new property has been modified to suit Richard's needs, however the garden needs a complete makeover to make it accessible and a stimulating space for Richard.
A landscaper previously at PWP Landscpaes, Richard spent his career making improvements to countless gardens and appreciates the difference an inviting and welcoming space a garden can make to a home.
Spearheaded by Ian Woolford and Adrian Parr of PWP Landscapes alongside Steven Good and Joseph Roberts of Good & Roberts Prestigious Garden Service, have joined up together to transform Richard garden. Family, friends and volunteers have kindly donated their time starting on Thursday 7th March to completely transform Richard's garden.
The group are currently fundraising to purchase enough material to make this garden a reality for Richard. They will also be doing a sponsored chest wax with some of the team who will be helping create the garden and any remain donations in the pot will be given to Richard and his family.
