Team Debbie to run the Derbion Ramathon

Inspirational runner, Peggy Watkins and her family have entered the Derbion Ramathon in memory of her dear Mother.

"I am running the Ramathon for my Mum. She loved to participate in as many of the local runs as she could and even carried the Olympic torch through Derby on her birthday in 2012.

"Whether she had finished running or was spectating an event, she would always stay and clap every single person across the finish line. She was deeply passionate and always told us “It doesn't matter if you are the fastest or run the furthest... It's about going out and doing it regardless."

"We lost Mum to a short battle with cancer during the Covid lockdowns in 2020. We are thankful she has left this legacy behind as it has given my family something to continue running for.

"She didn’t get to live her life for the longest but she went out, chased her dreams, and caught them regardless."
