Team Molly is made up of Molly’s friends and family and is determined to continue to raise awareness and raise money as much as possible for her legacy.
A group of runners will be taking on the Sheffield Mutual Sheffield Half Marathon on Sunday 23rd March, raising money for both the Salivary Gland Cancer UK and Weston Park Cancer Charity.
They have already raised over £100,000 for both these charities.
Molly unfortunately lost her life after being diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer called Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC). Molly received support from Weston Park Hospital in Sheffield. Team Molly was started by Milly herself after she was diagnosed.
Due to the rarity of this cancer, there’s a lack of funding, meaning there is also limited research. Molly sadly died this February, just one year after her initial diagnosis. Whilst undergoing harsh treatment, she had the bravery and strength to use her story to raise awareness and fundraise.
Eleanor Midgley, Molly’s mother, said, “As we approach the first anniversary of her death, we are as committed as ever to fulfilling Molly’s wishes.”
More than 50 runners will be taking to the streets of Sheffield in the half marathon. Once again, Harry, Molly’s cousin, will be running in a full fire kit including the breathing apparatus.
We can’t wait to see them all again at the Sheffield Mutual Sheffield Half Marathon. If you would like to hear more about their story and to donate, visit the link below.
