A group of ten teachers from Oldfleet Primary School in Hull will be joining the thousands of participants taking on the Hull 10K on Sunday 9th June in aid of Hull & East Yorkshire Children's University.
For some of the team, it will be their first 10K challenge, but they have all come together with one common goal to raise much-needed funds for all the great work Hull and East Yorkshire Children's University do for the local community in and around the city of York.
With a close connection to the school, many pupils at Oldfleet Primary School benefit from the amazing, inspiring and invaluable work the charity do.
Hull and East Yorkshire's Childre's University are a charity that works with children growing up in disadvantaged areas of Hull and East Yorkshire who may not have the same opportunities as others. They aim to light up every path that a child could take and help create dreams for the future. They do this by providing experiences that broaden horizons and raise aspirations including a London Experience; a day at a local business learning about the industry; a sleepover in the Natural History Museum or an intergenerational experience, bringing the young and the elderly together.
We spoke to team Oldfleet ahead of their 10K challenge.
"This June, ten teachers from Oldfleet Primary School be taking to the streets of Hull for the Hull 10k in aid of HEY Children's University. For some, this will be their first time running 10km. HEY Children's University strives to give every child the opportunities they deserve, no matter what circumstances they were born into.
"Many children around Hull and the East Riding do not have the same opportunities that other children have in the UK. Many have never been much further than the street in which they live and some children will never visit another city until they reach adulthood.
"For many years, the charity has supported Oldfleet Primary School by providing experiences and opportunities for all of our children. Now it is our time to give something back.
"By supporting our fundraising efforts you can help make a real and lasting difference!
Any donation would be a huge help, THANK YOU!"
