Tracy Lote to run the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon in memory of late husband

Tracy Lote will be running her first marathon in memory of her late husband, John. 

"This will be my first full Marathon, I’ve done plenty of half marathons and my training is going well.

I needed a fresh challenge, I was sitting watching TV after being out for a run and saw Leeds Marathon on BBC lunchtime news and I decided this would the be one after not getting into the London ballot again.

In a very shallow way, I need crowd support and I know there will be plenty.

I raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity in my husband’s memory.

He was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2011 and it, unfortunately, progressed despite multiple operations and radiotherapy.

He passed away in December 2015 at the age of 43.

I was shocked to discover how little money went into researching this cancer.

So I set myself a challenge and a much-needed focus to raise money for research in low-grade brain tumors.

With help from family, friends, and strangers alike the total raised in John’s memory is currently over £21,000.

Crossing the finishing line on 14th May will be very emotional, in many ways.
