Park and Ride FAQs

• Are dogs allowed on the buses?

  Elvington Airfield and York University Campus are both dog free sites. Dogs are allowed on the spectator shuttle buses.

• Is there parking on campus?

  There is no parking on campus, so the park and ride is the best way to get the event.

• Where is the park and ride site?

  The car park is at Elvington Airfield (YO41 4AU).

• How many tickets do I need to buy?

  You will need to purchase a ticket per person, not per car.

• Is there a drop off point?

  There will be two designated drop-off points available at the University on race day. Please note this facility is for drop-off and collection only.

  Simply follow the signs to the drop-off locations. Please make arrangements for collection well in advance as waiting will not be permitted.

  West Loop: A19 / Main Street (Fulford)- Broadway - Heslington Lane; for participants travelling from the city centre and/or west of the city.

  East Loop: Church Lane- Innovation Way - University Road - Field Lane; for participants travelling from the A64 and/or east of the city.

• Is there any transport from the city centre?

  There will be a city centre shuttle bus running from Stand J of York Railway Station from 6:30am. Tickets for this are purchase on the day only.

• What does a Family Ticket include?

  A Family Ticket includes park and ride plus the spectator shuttle service for 4 people (return)

  You will all need to travel together on the service that you booked onto.

• Where does the spectator shuttle go to and what time?

  The spectator shuttle will go to the two spectator points on course. These are Dunnington and Stamford Bridge.The bus timings for the spectator points are as follows:

  09:00 -11:30 - Stamford Bridge
  10:00 - 14:30 - Dunnington
  10:00 -13:00 - Elvington

• Is the time that I have purchased my travel ticket for car park arrival time or bus departure time?

  The half an hour window is the bus departure time. Please leave yourself sufficient time to arrive prior to your half an hour departure window.

• What happens if I miss my time slot?

  You will need to arrive between the allocated time you selected. If you are late, you may have to wait to get on a later bus to campus.

• Do I need to show anything when I get on the bus?

  Yes, please show your confirmation email (printed or on your mobile) with your QR code visible to the bus driver.

• Where do the buses drop off on campus?

  The buses will drop off in Campus South car park at the Event Village.

• Is there space for wheelchairs and buggies on the buses?

  All buses are fully accessible for wheelchairs and buggies. Just ask the driver if you require assistance getting onto the bus. The bus has a designated area for both wheelchairs and buggies and priority seating for any mobility impaired passengers. There is limited capacity per bus.

• How long does it take from Elvington to campus?

  It will take approximately 20 minutes to get from Elvington to campus.

• When is the last bus back to Elvington?

  The last buses back to Elvington will leave at 5pm from the Campus South car park.

• What time will the Elvington site close?

  Elvington will close at 6pm, with the last bus back at 5pm.

• Is there bicycle park on campus?

  There are a number of areas on campus where bikes can be parked.
